- RIP Ray Dennis Steckler: the beloved (well, by me, at least) B movie director passed away last week. I think the occasion calls for a fresh viewing of MST3K's take on The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-up Zombies in his honor.

- My favorite podcast, The Flop House, was featured in a dumb interview, which is not in fact dumb but rather entertaining.

- News for Ohio filmmakers: the deadline for submissions to the Akron Independent Film Festival is 31 January and the Wexner Center just released their call for entries in the Ohio Short Film & Video Showcase 2009 - submissions to the latter need to be in by 27 March.

- New Moon Magazine for girls is asking for "Beautiful Girl" nominations to celebrate inspirational girls ages 8-12.
